Learn how to tap maple trees to make maple syrup. Work with our board members to gather sap, boil it down, and take fresh maple syrup home with you! All community members attending bring a sanitized pint jar to fill with fished syrup. Special thanks to Ace Hardware, Tractor Supply, Mike Gramann, Bumps Burgers, and Roy and Carla Thoune for donating supplies for the event.
Do you have old fruit trees on your land? Do you need help pruning new trees that you planted? Sign up for our fruit tree pruning workshop and learn how to properly care for your trees. Contact Carly Graff at 906-236-5108 to pre-register. IBCD is asking a $20 donation to cover lunch. Meet at The Windsor Center in Iron River Mi, and end the event at Taproot Community Farm.
Plant seeds with us at Taproot Community Farm to get ready for the season. Learn how to build cold frames to go over our raised garden beds. All community members please bring cordless drills to help us build. Each participant will bring home a cold frame to protect your seedlings from the frost.

Composting at Taproot Community Farm has finally started! If you are interested in composting with us, sign up for our monthly composting subscription. $20 a month will get you a key code to drop off food scraps and yard waist when ever you are available. Join us for this evening event and see what our site looks like.
The frost is finally over and summer has come to the north woods. Learn how to transplant into our raised garden beds and how to plan what to grow to have enough food for a year. Community members please bring gloves and shovels. Each Participant will bring home seedlings to plant in your own garden.
Take a walk through our 25 acres and learn what native plants are edible and how to use them. Community members please wear hiking apparel. Participants will each take home a bouquet of wild flowers to use as tea.
The garden is full of food! Learn how to harvest and prepare our fresh produce. Based on what is available at Taproot Community Farm participants will bring home produce and recipe cards to prepare at home.
Join us in our second annual mushroom event. Learn what type of mushrooms you can grow at home and help us harvest mushrooms at Taproot Community Farm. Participants will take home fresh mushrooms or an inoculated log.
Pick a pumpkin and take a nature walk through our food forest. Help plant more in our perennial food forest. Community members please bring shovels and pruning clippers. Participants will take home a pumpkin.
Fall is the perfect time to plant wild flowers. Help Taproot plant a huge swath of them by our front drive. Community members please bring rakes and gloves. Participants will take home wild flower seeds to plant in their own yard.
Take a walk through Taproots 25 acres to see the beauty of winter on the farm. End with a bonfire and hot cider from fesh pressed apples.
Community members bring snow boots or snowshoes. Participants will enjoy free cider.
